While filling the ward no field in ITR-1, do we have to give the ward no corresponding to our office address(i.e., finding it using the PAN no of our employer) or using our own PAN number ?

Anything can be possible. You can at least ensure that you don’t commit any negligence. Do not handover copy of PAN to any one for no reason. Whenever you are submitting PAN for any purpose, writing down the purpose (just online) touching to the edges of PAN or little across of it and keep no much space between image of PAN and signature or the note you mention about the purpose.

But now I have transferred at Kolkata. So what should be my new ward/ circle?
Where from I can get my new ward/ circle?

        Hi,

As per my PAN the ward/circle should be ITO WARD 49(2), RANGE – 149, KOLKATA

But since I had manually submitted the return for 2011 and 2012 in Pune IT office so from the link given by you I can see TRO, RANGE-7, PUNE

Now, I am permanently moved to my hometown that is Kolkata.

In 2013 I used e-filing and kept the ward/circle box empty but it had automatically taken Pune ward/circle.

May I submit 2014 return online with Kolkata ward/circle?

          Hi Amitabha,

It is appearing because of your PAN jurisdiction. You can not simply file return manually changing the ward/circle. For this you need to apply for change in PAN data first.

That is the problem. PAN data is absolutely correct. I got my PAN card from Kolkata home address. I went to Pune for Job and manually submitted IT return there using Pune temporary address. Now I got job in Kolkata and permanently relocated here.

Do not lose hope. In this case you need to write a letter to AO at Pune jurisdiction requesting for change of ward/circle things to your permanent address.

      Hi Manju,

You can correct it through revised filing with no problem at all. Only change you may see is, it will appear as “Revised” which you are currently seeing as “Original”.

Anyways exchange of first name and second name do bring any differences as long as your PAN data are correct. So next year while you are filing returns do not repeat this mistake again 🙂

My son has today received an intimation, under section 245, from CPC Banglore that the refund determined on processing of his return for AY 2014-15, is being adjusted against the outstanding demand on him for AY 2011-12. On checking the return now, we find that there were mistakes on our/CA’s part – it was a manually prepared return – in calculating the Tax liability for the AY 2011-12 and consequently , less tax was paid. The mistake occurred mainly due to his job change during the year. The stupid CA should have made the Tax liability calculations by adding the salary payments made by both the employers….
When his account on the IT website was checked today, we saw an intimation that the demand was raised on 22.06.2012. He did not receive any communication from the Deptt about this demand.
Further, in the said return, through oversight, the interest on Home Loan, paid during the year remained to be included. To that extent, the demand would have been reduced.
What do we do now ? Can he submit a revised return now for AY 2011-12 ? The original (wrong one) was submitted on 11.7.2011 i.e.in time.

      Hi Tewari,

Nothing to be worried. No need to revise IT returns for the said AY. You just need to make the tax payment through “CHALLAN NO./ITNS 280” under “(400)TAX ON REGULAR ASSESSMENT”.

Visit this link (https://onlineservices.tin.egov-nsdl.com/etaxnew/tdsnontds.jsp), clcik on challan number suggested above, select “AY 2011-12”, fill-up required basic details, select Type of payment as (400) and proceed for payment. That’s it.

        3) What are the negative scenarios in case I do not change the place of Jurisdiction ( as everything is now online).
Can it cause me some problem in future, if I leave at as Aligarh ( instead of changing to Ghaziabad)

Nice information and you are doing really a great job by updating it , even if queries are repeated.

my query is that i have account in 2 diff banks and i wasnt aware to submit 15G. since last 8
yrs the banks just deducted TDS on FD savings/interest etc.

my query is that can i get those deductions refunded by filing IT return of last 8 yrs or is any other way around there.

the query may seems to be of a novice nature but sometimes less information may get ur hard earned money to govt.

      Hi Ahmad,

It’s not a novice query, but an important one!

Now on you do not miss to submit 15G on time. Wrt refund of excess tax deducted, you can take them back as refund through eFiling for the FY 2012-13 & FY 2013-14 (FY refers to Financial Year). Please note if you cross 31st March 2015, then you can’t do eFiling for FY 2012-13.

For the FY 2011-12 and years before this, you need to visit Income Tax office and request them to allow you to do the return filing for these financial years so that you can do so by filling offline ITR forms.

I got my PAN card when I was working in Bangalore till 2007. Currently not working and staying in Hyderabad. I have an FD in my hometown in Tamil Nadu, this year, bank requested Form 15G.

    1. Is it okay to fill fields 4 to 13 with Tamil Nadu address and keep present AO details in Bangalore though I am staying in Hyderabad. Since I don’t have any income I never bothered to change the address for my PAN. PAN shows AO in Bangalore.

    2. Is last assessed AO info mandatory? Can I leave it blank?

    3. What should I fill Field 14. last assessment year? I was not asked for form 15G last year and I dont know when I was last assessed.

      2. Not mandatory
      3. Leave that blank

    Dear Mr. Patra,

I am required to fill up the Form 15G along with my PF Forms that I am submitting to my previous Organization. Now to obtain the AO Code, Area Code, AO Type etc. I have gone through the details as per the IT Website whereby my Jurisdiction details have been mentioned for the Guwahati, Assam IT Office. Therefore, I would request your kind self to help me with the following queries:-

    1) Now does this mean that this is the office that my income was assessed by the last time? It will be noteworthy to mention that my previous employer HQ was in Hyderabad but I was located in my home state Assam having an IT Office for this region in Guwahati.

    2) Since I am submitting the PF claim forms to my previous organization and since it is now mandatory to fill up the Form 15G, will the Present AO Details should also remain the same as it is mentioned in the IT Website?

    3) For Schedule-I and Schedule-IV of Form 15G, does my Unit Linked Insurance Policies qualify as the Details of Shares and the Details of Mutual Fund Investments for the mentioned respective Schedules? Because I have two ULIPs, one from Max Life Insurance and the other from UTI Mutual Funds (although it is UTI MF, the police is an Insurance Policy of Unit Link)

I would be very much obliged if you could attend to my aforementioned queries.

    Thanking you

      Hi Amitabh,

      Answers as below

      1. If you haven’t filed any returns earlier then you can leave that space blank
      2. Here income assessed means, you should have filed returns. Merely company issuing form 16 is not enough. So leave blank
      3. Yes
      4. If you have any income then put else leave blank
      5. Income should be after all exemptions, deduction ect such as HRA things you mentioned, 80C etc.

Sorry, if my reply is too late for you.

    b) point14 (Last Assessment Year in which assessed) has to be the AY of my previous organization.

      Hi Shali,

If you are submitting the form now, then assessment year will be 2016-17 (point 3) & last assessment year would be (for point 14), the assessment year in which you filed your ITR last time.

Thanks for the article. I have few doubts in filling FORM 15G for PF withdrawal.
I left my job in April 2015. And I need to apply for PF return, for which I need to submit FORM 15G as asked by my employer. Doubts:

    1) What is the assessment year? 2015-16 right?
    2) In 7 & 10, I have found some details from the link provided. But which is Assessed ward and AO Code (under whom assessed last time)? Please help…. Please note that, when I try to find the details from link provided, details are given of the place where I made my PAN Card. But I am not working at that place. Say PAN card made in city – A, & Working in City – B

    3) What do I have to write in 17, 18 & 20 now?
    4) How do I get Commissioner name, for 21?
    5) What I need to fill for Income form units referred to in Schedule IV? Is it my salary for 2014-15 or my total PF saving or Both?

Please provide any sample if available. Thank you in advance for providing the response.

      Hi Amit,

If you are filling up the form now,
      1. AY 2016-17
      2. Refer your ITR-V ack, you will find
      3. point # 17, as per current PAN jurisdiction, Point # 18, INDIVIDUAL, & Point # 20, Put it same as Point # 7 (and ignore point #7 if not assessed).
      4. Same as per PAN jurisdiction
      5. both

      Hi Sumalatha,

In that case, let the PAN come to you after the write a request letter to assessing officer of the jurisdiction where the ward has been selected. In the letter you can request to change your ward/jurisdiction.

      Hi Sumalatha,

No! Just do not go ahead with applying a new one, but before that check what is the status of your PAN either through acknowledgement number or Name & DOB. You may call PAN service customer care to know current status.

      Hi Abhishek,

It should be based on your PAN jurisdiction.
